    Counterfeiting refers to illegally making copies of trademark, patent, and copyright of product without permission from the owner with the aim to reap the benefits offered by a branded product. Counterfeiting is a phenomenon that has long been neglected in previous studies. Production and sale of counterfeit products is an issue that has no ending, and becoming an increasingly serious problem in the international market in general and Malaysian market in particular. Based on Theory of Planned Behaviour, this study focuses on the factors that influence the purchase intention and behavior among consumers towards counterfeit products in Malaysia. This study examined the relationships between attitudes, social influence, perceived behaviour control, anticipated guilt and past experience on intention and purchase behavior of counterfeit products. The consideration of putting both mediator and moderator factors in this research allow a more previse descriptions on the relationship between all the variables mentioned and the outcome of the research. This study involved 392 respondents in the area of Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Baharu who have experience buying counterfeit products. Out of seven hypotheses tested, six were supported. The analyses revealed positive relationship between intention and purchase behaviour of counterfeit products. Attitudes and social influence have positive relationships with intention to purchase counterfeit products while perceived behavioural control has positive influence on purchase behaviour of counterfeit products. Anticipated guilt mediates the relationship between attitude and intention to purchase counterfeit products while past experience moderates the relationship between intention and purchase behaviour of counterfeit products. The study also highlighted implications of the study, limitations as well as suggestion future research

    Effects of lime in combination with water level toward soil chemical properties and paddy growth performance grown on acidic soil / Muhammad Syafri Famin Ahmad Azli

    A glasshouse study was conducted to determine the effect of lime application rate in combination with water level on soil pH, aluminium (Al) concentration and nutrient availability. The second aim of the study is to determine the optimum combination of lime rate application and water level on paddy growth. Two factors were used for the study which are three lime application rate (no lime application, 1 t/ha CaCO3 and 2 t/ha CaCO3) and two water level (3-5 cm above soil surface and 8-10 cm above soil surface).The preliminary results of the research showed that soil available Al and soil available Ca were significantly different among the treatment. The lowest soil available Al mean was 65.14 mg/kg for treatment L3W2 (2 t/ha CaCO3 and 8-10 cm water level). Meanwhile, the highest mean for soil available Ca was 1061 mg/kg for treatment L3W2. Furthermore, the soil pH result show no significant but the highest mean soil pH was 5.43 for treatment L3W2.The optimum combination of lime application rate and water level was treatment L3W2 with highest soil pH value, highest available Ca and lowest available Al as compared to other treatments

    Nowadays, the biological resources are the best option as alternative to the petroleum-based fuels or petrochemical solvents for renewable energy and green chemistry applications. Over the last 15 years, the production of biodiesel fuels (BDF) mainly composed of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), had been intensively studied as it is an organic, biodegradable and non-toxic fuels source that is made from renewable resources including animal fats and vegetable oils. In spite of the usage of virgin and food grade oils have proven to be suitable feedstock for biodiesel production, the concern on the proper usage of widespread farmland areas for the production in the detriment of food supply have play an important role on the final chosen feedstock. The usage of non-edible crops like jatropha or castor oil, do not resolve the problem of requiring large plantation area. BDF is defined as the monoalkyl esters of long-chain fatty acids synthesized by transesterification of triglyceride in vegetable oils or animal fats with alcohol to form fatty acid methyl ester (FAME). This project has theoretically assessed the transesterification of sunflower oil with methanol to produce fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) using KOH catalyst in a microchannel tube reactor using AN SYS Fluent. Micro-reactor is considered for better heat and mass transfer, also micro-reactor provides admissible control over unwanted side reactions. The exact reaction path of biodiesel production is unknown so the lumped kinetics model is being used instead. Computationally, the volume fraction, the velocity profile, the pressure drop, density profile, and temperature profile are being examined based on the experimental setup which is using the methanol/oil molar ratio = 23.9 at 40 °C. The dimension of microreactor is fixed to 0.8 mm diameter. Based on the experimental result, the flow pattern at the entrance region of the microtube was segmented flow of the methanol and oil phases. As the reaction progress, fine droplets composed of the produced glycerol and methanolwere dispersed and circulated in the oil segments. At a methanol/oil molar ratio of 23.9 at 60 °C, a quasi-homogeneous phase form approximately 300mm from the reaction inlet where the oil completely converted to FAME

    Wahdat al-Wujud dan kewalian adalah di antara beberapa isu penting yang berkaitan dengan tasawuf dan tarekat. Ketika Islam semakin tersebar ke seluruh penjuru dunia cabaran terhadap kemurnian ajaran Islam pun semakin besar ketika ia bercampur dengan budaya setempat dan semakin dangkalnya pemahaman umat terhadap Islam. Dalam suasana seperti ini muncul Bediuzzaman Said Nursi (1877-1960M) seorang mujaddid (pembaharu) dari Turki yang berusaha membetulkan pemahaman terhadap isu tersebut dengan mengajak umat Islam berpedoman kepada al-Quran dan hadis dalam segala amalan, keyakinan dan ibadah harian mereka. Kajian ini menjelaskan pandangan Said Nursi terhadap wahdat al-Wujud dan kewalian sesuai dengan panduan syariah Islam menerusi karya agungnya Risale-i Nur. Kajian memaparkan pendekatan Said Nursi yang moderat dalam membetulkan pemahaman terhadap konsep wahdat al-Wujud dan kewalian secara ilmiah dan penuh hikmah. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif menerusi instrumen kajian kepustakaan terhadap Risale-i Nur dan juga kajian perbandingan dengan pemikiran ulama tasawuf lain sama ada ulama terdahulu mahupun ulama semasa. Hasil kajian ini mendapati bahawa Said Nursi menilai fahaman wahdat al-Wujud dan kewalian secara seimbang disertai dengan kritikan yang membina. Beliau tidak menyalahkan atau mendakwanya sebagai satu ajaran songsang atau pemikiran yang menyimpang sebaliknya beliau memberikan konsep dan pemahaman yang betul sesuai dengan al- Quran dan Sunnah Rasulullah SAW

    KEANEKARAGAMAN JENIS DAN ETNOBOTANI BAMBU (POACEAE: BAMBUSOIDEAE) DI PULAU WEH, PROVINSI ACEH, INDONESIA

    Bambu merupakan tumbuhan dari suku Poaceae (rumput-rumputan) dan anak suku Bambusoideae. Bambu di dunia diperkirakan sebanyak 1.439 jenis. Di Indonesia sendiri, diperkirakan ada sebanyak 174 jenis bambu. Berdasarkan penjelasan tersebut, kajian ini diharapkan dapat menyediakan informasi kekayaan jenis, persebaran spasial dan potensi pemanfaatan bambu. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli hingga November 2022 di Pulau Weh, Aceh. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode jelajah dan wawancara yang dimodifikasi. Pengamatan sampel dilakukan di Herbarium Andalas (ANDA) dan Herbarium Bogoriense (BO) dan semua sampel disimpan di sana. Karakter morfologi diamati untuk proses identifikasi serta penyusunan deskripsi jenis dan kunci determinasi. Sebaran spasial bambu dibuat menggunakan perangkat lunak QGIS. Informasi potensi setiap jenis bambu diperoleh dari hasil wawancara. Bambu di Pulau Weh terdiri dari 8 jenis, yaitu Bambusa multiplex, B. spinosa, B. tuldoides, B. vulgaris, Dendrocalamus asper, Schizostachyum brachycladum, S. silicatum, dan Thyrsostachys siamensis. Bambusa vulgaris ditemukan paling melimpah di Pulau Weh, sementara itu, B. multiplex dan B. tuldoides paling jarang dijumpai. Keberadaan S. silicatum di Pulau Weh dan juga Pulau Bangka merupakan tambahan informasi perluasan persebaran jenis ini di luar daratan utama Sumatra. Pemanfaatan jenis-jenis bambu di Pulau Weh digunakan sebagai tanaman hias, makanan, konstruksi bangunan, mebel, obat-obatan, kerajianan tangan, pakan ternak, konstruksi pertanian, mainan tradisional, peralatan dapur, dan peralatan lainnya. Bambusa vulgaris memiliki nilai manfaat (UVs) yang paling tinggi (0,789). Nilai kepentingan budaya tumbuhan berguna (ICS) dengan kategori tinggi dimiliki oleh B. vulgaris (42), B. spinosa (40), dan D. asper (36). Bagian bambu yang paling banyak dimanfaatkan di Pulau Weh adalah bagian buluh (52,94%)

    As a result of the hot and dry weather caused by the El Nino phenomenon or the overheating weather that struck our country, water supply dams and rivers supplying raw water resources for water treatment plants in all state were declined (Termizi, 2017). Among the causes of clean water shortage is the pollution due to the poor waste management without systematic method, causing pollution and contamination to the water sources. In the meantime, many countries have also presented some issues with less favourable facilities, especially the problem cause by the lack of clean water at the coastal area (Hirschman, 1975). Thus, portable seawater desalination was developed using condensation concept and distillation methods to produce clean water sources for coastal visitors as well as the use of local residents as an alternative to the dry season

    The Influences of Attitude, Social Influence and Price Consciousness in Promoting Consumers’ Intention to Purchase Counterfeit Products

    Counterfeiting has been proven to be a serious issue around the globe since the last few decades where counterfeiting is linked with varies of problems that causes chaos in economic activities and social life. This article sets out to examine factors influencing consumers’ intention to purchase counterfeit products. An intercept survey involving 390 respondents was conducted at three hot spot areas selling counterfeit products in Malaysia. A self-administered questionnaire was designed using established scales. This study utilized PLS-SEM to establish the validity and reliability of the measurement model and to test the hypotheses. The outcomes of this study show that intention to purchase counterfeit products is positively influenced by attitude and social influence of the consumers, while price consciousness does not significantly influence consumers’ intention to purchase counterfeit products. This study offers theoretical and practical contributions for academics and professionals. This study provides an understanding of consumers’ counterfeit purchase behavior of counterfeit products. The findings can be used by policy makers and genuine product producers to formulate strategies to curb counterfeiting activities

    Mining and quarrying are classified as one of the major economic sectors in Malaysia. This economy sectors are increasing year by year recording to Bank Negara Malaysia. The result is increasing demand from other industries that need quarry and mining to cope with the situation to produce materials efficiently. From this study, the production of tonnage per year can be increased if the haulage are operates efficiently. Other factor also affect the productivity of the quarry operation such as excavator, haul road and operator efficiency. Study proven that independent evaluation of every excavator-truck combination is necessary to identify the optimal combination. Larger excavators may result in a lower mining cost by reducing the system operating duration. Furthermore, the optimum cycle time without neglecting safety of the operators and equipment was studied and estimated. Simulation software such as Talpac software is one of the software that estimate the cycle time and production per operating hour based on the real case study. The estimation resulted is to achieve new parameters and optimum cycle time
